Summer blog

•    If you are a language assistant starting work in September 2015, here is an update:

o    First of all, we encourage you to take advantage of the summer to find a place to live in your new community (if you haven’t yet done so, or if your accommodations have not already been arranged for you). On-line advertising, such as craigslist and Kijiji, are great tools to use. Your supervisor at the school board and/or the principal at the school where you will be working can also help you to some extent. You can also use the Odyssey Facebook...

After the interview

After the interview, your provincial/territorial coordinator will let you know whether or not you passed your interview. If you were successful, your file will be forwarded to the coordinator of your host province or territory. This still doesn’t mean that you have obtained a position.

Upon receiving your file, the host coordinator will review it and decide to either offer you a position or place you on a waiting list. If you are placed on a waiting list, don’t despair! You may still hear about an opening over the summer.

Best of luck!

We’re still looking for francophone language assistants!

Although the 2015-16 application deadline has passed, we’re still looking for francophone language assistants. If you’re interested, we invite you to apply. Your name will be placed on a waiting list to be interviewed as positions become available. For more information, please contact the coordinator in your province or territory. Their contact information is available here.

Odyssey interviews

If you have applied to the program and are anxious about the next steps, keep reading! (If you have just heard of this amazing program and wish to apply late — the deadline was February 28 — contact your provincial/territorial coordinator to see if he or she is willing to accept your late application.) Your provincial/territorial coordinator might do a pre-selection by reviewing your file or conducting a quick phone interview. Then, if you pass this step, you will be invited to an interview in or near your city. The interview involves one or two interviewers and usually lasts around 30 minutes...

Is your application ready?

To be eligible for the Odyssey program, you not only have to apply on-line, you must submit your supporting documents to the coordinator of your home province/territory as well.

The interviews usually take place in March and April, and your provincial/territorial coordinator will contact you about the next steps to follow.
